August/September 2017 Creations!

My favorite time of year is back again! Fall and Halloween!! I have began making my fall creations including new Trick-or-treat bags, and I even made a new reversible quilted table runner…one side is Halloween and the other side is fall pumpkins!

September has been a pretty busy month for me…I have participated in two craft fairs/farmers market this month. One of the markets was behind the apartment buildings we previously lived in. The Markets were a lot of fun, and I hope I’ll be able to participate in some Christmas shows.

I have made several other bags the past two months, some examples are below! I have also finally updated my etsy site with several new listings!

Dirty 30 and New Beginnings

In April, I just turned the big 3-0.  I thought I would be more depressed about it, but it turns out this is the year of changes and excitement.  In February, I found out that I would be moving to Denver, Colorado.  My boyfriend accepted a job offer right outside of the City.  He moved there last month, but I will be moving there in July.  This will be huge and an exciting new adventure for me considering I have lived in Virginia practically all my life.  I am excited to see what the craft and art atmosphere the City of Denver has to offer.  I am assuming that it is a lot bigger in Denver than in the VA Beach area and maybe more competitive, but I plan to continue with my handbags, participate in craft shows, and meet other local artisans in Denver.

Since I have been getting prepared to move and been commuting a longer way to work for the next couple months, I have not been doing much sewing this Spring.  I did participate in farmers market in March, and I plan to participate in a couple more craft shows before I move.

I did get a new sewing machine for my birthday – so I still have been doing some sewing.  I have made several more tote bags, and I also been making some reusable market/grocery bags to sell.  I have received a box full of up-cycled fabric, and that is when I decided to make and sell reusable grocery bags.

Here are some examples of new tote bags and make-up bags I made in the past couple months, and also the new maxi skirt that I made from fabric I bought from Mood Fabrics!

Fall Creations and New Orleans Trip

Fall is my favorite time of the year!  It is the time when I get the most creative with making Halloween Costumes, fall decor, Halloween/fall dog scarves, and Trick-or-Treat Bags.

Besides Christmas time, Fall is the time I enjoy and participate in craft shows and farmers markets the most.  I love the weather and the atmosphere at farmers markets during the fall season.  The Virginia Beach Farmers Market craft show events I participate the most in but unfortunately, the events were cancelled 2 weekends in a row due to the heavy rain and hurricane threats on the east coast.  But that’s okay, I have been participating in other crafts shows including the “Riverview Village Days” which is a new local craft fair event in Norfolk, Virginia that is held once a month in the summer/fall.  It was a great event full of other local vendors and artisans.

Last week I took a trip to New Orleans with my boyfriend and a couple of our friends, and it was my first visit.  Of course I loved the food there, and loved the layouts and architecture of the older buildings.   But most of all, I loved the artistic culture atmosphere.  We checked out several art shows and craft markets, and saw some awesome local art and paintings.  We even took home a few pieces of art with us!  I mostly checked out the art and shops to gain some inspiration from the local artisans.  I also loved the popularity of sugar skulls in the City and how they were all included on clothes, jewelry, and paintings.  New Orleans is definitely an exciting City, and definitely unique from other Cities here in America.  I had a great time, and would love to go back some day.
