About a month ago I finished a new quilt, and this quilt was specifically made to be sent to Ukrainian refugees.
Ever since the war began in Ukraine, I have been feeling sad for everyone who is being affected by this awful war and I’ve been feeling helpless as well. A few months ago, I located an organization in Utah, USA that has been collecting handmade quilts from all over the country to be sent to Ukrainian refugees. So I made this quilt, and sent it off to “Wrap up Ukraine with Quilts” in Utah to be delivered to a Ukrainian Refugee. The quilt is about crib sized, and I love how it turned out. I love the patterns and the colors I used, and of course I had to include the colors of the Ukrainian Flag.
The heart in the middle of the quilt was made from a paper piecing pattern called “Rise of Freedom.” I bought this pattern from an Etsy seller/pattern designer from Ukraine. Her paper piecing patterns are adorable. Check out her Esty page at: https://www.etsy.com/shop/SashasQuilts
Buying something digital from an Etsy seller/artist from Ukraine is another great way to support them.
