Adventures in Quilting

Last year, The Denver Modern Quilt Guild started an annual challenge called “Adventures in Quilting” where each year has a different challenge. This year’s theme was “Light and Dark with an alphabet twist,” so, each member would make a quilt with light and dark colors and include an element in the quilt with a letter they selected. Earlier this year, each guild member drew a letter, and the letter I drew was D. I ended up making two mini quilts for the challenge that included light and dark colors, with something in the quilt that incorporates the letter D. The first quilt I made was a mini quilt made with light and dark Denim (from my letter D selection) fabric scraps, and also included in some cotton fabrics to blend in.

The second quilt I made was Day of the Dead theme – which I incorporated with the letter D. I used mostly dark colors but included light thread quilted top stitch with diagonal lines which also incorporated in the quilt with the letter D.

This year’s “Adventures in Quilting” challenge was very fun, and I look forward to doing this challenge every year.
