Last month, I completed my first quilted garment! It was a challenge for the Denver Modern Quilt Guild to complete a quilted garment by the August meeting, so I made a reversible quilted vest.
I chose to make a vest because it seemed the simplest garment to make. And it in fact, was pretty simple. I chose some Linen fabric at a local fabric store and included some Bamboo batting which was recommended. I did a top stitch straight lines, and finished the vest with a pink binding to cover up all the inside seams to make the vest reversable.
I have made clothes before, but never a quilted garment so I am very proud how this vest turned out! I found a pattern on Etsy, and it was pretty easy to follow – although I had to estimate my size just a bit, but overall it fits great!
Of course, I had to do a little photoshoot outside in my backyard. đŸ™‚
Hello! My name is Julie, I am very crafty and I love to quilt! I currently live in Denver, Colorado, but I was born and grew up in Virginia. My sewing journey began in 2009 where I started making handbags and I have participated in several craft shows/markets in Virginia and Colorado.
I began quilting in 2020, and since then quilting has been my main focus. I have made several quilts from modern, improve, lap quilts to mini quilts. In 2023 I became a member of the Denver Metro Quilt Guild. Besides sewing, in my spare time I love to weave, take photos, bake, hike, ski, attend craft/art shows, and spend time with my husband and my dog Lilly. My blog mostly focuses on my creations and inspirations, but once and awhile, I will blog about my trips and travel adventures. My goal is to share and inspire everyone who is reading. Enjoy!
