Two New Quilts

This Spring has been busy with quilting! The weather has been getting warmer and the flowers are blooming, and I just finished two quilts with spring theme fabric. The first quilt, I started in February. This one took a little longer because I decided to do some hand quilting, and I used matching thread colors with the fabric.

I love how this quilt turned out. After the hand quilting and washing, it looks more like a Vintage quilt. I bought most of the fabrics at local fabric stores located here in Denver including, “Treelotta” and “Fancy Tiger Crafts.” I did a little photoshoot of this quilt in April right in Golden, Colorado. It was a gorgeous day.

The second quilt is another spring quilt full of bright colorful floral fabrics. This quilt is a mixture of fabric scraps and fabric squares from “Moda Fabrics.”

This one was machine quilted with straight lines. I am very pleased how this one also turned out, and all the colors collaborate very well. I took pictures of this quilt at a park right near my house, next to some blooming trees.

Both of these quilts are about lap/crib sized, and they are also a decent size to hang on walls. I didn’t use any specific patterns for these quilts, just received lots of inspiration on colors and quilt blocks. I mostly use patterns if I am doing foundation paper piecing. It was also fun to sew on my fairly new Pfaff sewing/quilting machine. Since the first quilt took awhile to finish with the hand quilting I will probably keep that one, but eventually donate the second quilt.
