English Paper Piecing

Hello Everyone and Happy Midsummer! So last month, I joined The Denver Metro Modern Quilt Guild, which is a local community of quilters who get together at least once a month for meetings, gatherings, retreats, etc. I am very excited about this, because I get to meet with people with the exact same hobby as me! In the meetings they discuss future events, do show and tells on quilt challenges, and teach some quilting skills. The first meeting I went to in June, we learned how to English Paper Piece (EPP).

In my previous entries I have shown my Paper Piecing Foundation quilts, and now I have been enjoying English Paper piecing. The difference between the two is that English paper piecing is hand sewn. After I learned this, I got a little hooked so I made a few more EPP hexagons and machine sewed them onto quilt blocks to make a mini-quilt.

EPP is pretty easy to do and I grasped at it pretty quickly. Eventually, I want to make other shapes other then the Hexagons, and I began to sketch EPP patterns to make a pillow. Who knows, maybe one day I will make a whole quilt all made from English Paper Piecing. 😉
