New Sewing Machine and Improv Quilting

A couple months ago I decided to go all out and buy a new sewing machine! I bought this fabulous Pfaff 720 Quilt Expression edition and I love it! I am still getting the hang of it and learning all the features, but I am really loving the free motion quilting feature. This machine was bought at Rocky Mountain Sew & Vacuum, at their store in Littleton.

For the past few months I have been practicing a little bit of improv quilting. I learned how to improv quilt at a meeting with The Denver Quilt Guild, and also watched a few YouTube Tutorials. It definitely can be quite difficult and stubborn, but I feel like I am getting the hang of it. I have mostly been making wavy lines and circular improv, and made a couple new quilted wall hangings.

The second quilt below, is another mini quilt I made doing improv quilting. I wanted this quilt to resemble mountains during a sunset. I also practiced free motion quilting on these two quilts. No super fancy stitching yet, I feel I need more practice with free motion quilting on smaller quilts before I start working on the bigger quilts.
